Rua das Mães D’Água Housing Complex

    Location: Lisbon, Portugal

    Architects: Pedro Vieira de Almeida

    Model Scale: 1:500

    Year: 1997

Housing complex constructed by 34 buildings organized in four continuous bands, forming a linear layout of medium density. The core corresponds to the structuring route in the context of the PIZ, highlighted by the existence of the alignment of vents and skylights that point to the Aqueduto das Francesas, subsidiary of the Aqueduto das Aguas Livres, opting to create one whose axis coincides with the aqueduct in which the vents obtain the value of urban objects fundamental for the memorization of place. The architecture of the buildings that flank the space thus formed attempts to highlight the presence of the vents that still play the role of marks in the constructed landscape with some changes to the model on display.
The same architectural project, matrix C, was applied in the Bairro das Amendoeiras and Bairro dos Lóios in Lisbon, as well as in the Bairro da Fundação Salazar Nova and Bairro do Arco-íris in Peniche.
